Use Coloured Scented Candles for ‘Dining in Style’
Tuesday, December 16th, 2008Although the tree is usually the Christmas centrepiece, the dining table should not be forgotten, according to the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.
The newspaper reports that using scented candles in colour groupings such as purple and gold, silver and white and traditional red is the hot look this season.
Visual display manager Ben Rhodes, from homeware store Heal’s in Batley, told the newspaper: “I always think that candles and candelabras are fantastic as centrepieces; you can have a collection of different heights and finishes to add real drama.”
He added: “Smell is important too so I buy several botanical candles and have them in a row on the mantelpiece.”
Other tips include hanging baubles from chairs and blinds, while using fresh cranberries at the bottom of storm lanterns give plain candles a twist.
In other news, Nigella Lawson has said she uses scented candles for as part of her Christmas decorating ritual.
Speaking to the Sunday Herald, she said she enjoyed putting out festive-scented candles and laying out china.
