The Southsider magazine reports that local candle experts Bryan Flynn and Ron Williams believe the natural product is superior to traditional paraffin candles.

Mr Flynn told the magazine: “Soy candles burn cooler and can hold more fragrance than a paraffin candle.”

He added that soy candles can be made from local vegetable-based materials rather than from petroleum by-products, as paraffin candles are, and also have a longer burn time.

The duo own a candle and soap shop in Lexington, Kentucky, with all products being hand-made.

Customers can even order custom-made scented candles to replicate favourite fragrances that have been discontinued or to match perfumes and colognes.

Meanwhile, using aromatherapy candles can help “enhance your mood”, it has been claimed.
